Biography

An Emerging
Voice

American soprano Clara Van de Velde is currently pursuing her Bachelor in Classical Voice Performance at McGill University's Schulich School of Music, studying under the guidance of Brett Polegato.

Clara's musical journey began with Seattle Opera's Youth Opera Project at age ten, followed by the selective Teen Vocal Studio program. She continued her training at the New England Conservatory Prep School under Clara Sandler, where she received the Voice Department Award in 2024.

A recipient of the E. Noel Spinelli, C.M. Prize in Music at McGill, Clara has performed roles including Hansel in Hansel and Gretel with Seattle Opera and appeared in productions of Wilde Tales, Odyssey, and Robin Hood. She is fully bilingual in French and English, with fluency in Spanish.
